I think people have had too much of a difficulty understanding the framework of oppression. It's not uniform. Supposing the sun is particularly sharp on a number of days, and the grass dies. There are still some green shoots, some under the ground and some that were relatively unaffected, due to being under shade. Just because different individual green shoots experienced the burning sun differently does not mean there was no burning sun. Also, just because some small bushes and some other plants got singed, as well as the grass, doesn't mean the grass wasn't killed by the sun's rays.
